When we’re in the bedroom between the white noise machine in the central air system we would never be able to hear anything happening on the first/ground floor. However, if you self monitor with SimpliSafe, you won’t be able to control your system remotely, livestream footage, or receive notifications. 24/7 professional monitoring would be better for a family where all adults work full time and wouldn’t have time to contact emergency services if an alarm goes off.
